Dutch delight as England back on track

Holders England put themselves firmly back on track at Euro 2025 on Wednesday afternoon with a 4-0 defeat of a potentially dangerous Netherlands side who came into the game with ambitions of knocking Sarina Wiegman's side out of the competition.

Wiegman opted for just one player change from the loss against France on Saturday, Ella Toone recalled to the starting line-up, but that allowed Lauren James to move out wide and the Chelsea star responded with two goals, the first to open the scoring midway through a first-half that had seen England dominate.

Georgia Stanway added a second in stoppage time and there was no let-up after the break as James and Toone put a deserved gloss on the scoreline and set the Lionesses' up to qualify if they defeat underdogs Wales on Sunday.

Either Sweden or Germany await in the knockout stages as both sides have already secured qualification from Group C ahead of their meeting with each other on Saturday.

Speaking afterwards to the BBC, Wiegman said: "I'm really happy with how the team responded and really happy with the result because it means we're totally back in the competition."
