Ahead of the U21 Euros in Slovakia, which begin next week with England looking to defend their crown, head coach Lee Carsley has extended his contract with the FA until the next tournament in 2027.

The deal will end speculation about a club move for Carsley, who made a positive impression during his six-match spell in charge of the senior team in the autumn of 2024 before reverting to his previous role after Thomas Tuchel's appointment.

He names his squad later this week for the Euros which begin for England with a game against Czechia on Thursday 12 June and further group stage matches with Slovenia and Germany, all of which will be shown on Channel 4.

"It was an easy decision to be honest," Carsley told England Football.

"I've really enjoyed my time at the FA, I feel privileged with the position that I'm in and valued as a member of staff so it's exciting times to work with this next generation of England players."
