Hibs have today revealed that winger Jair Tavares has left the club by mutual consent.
The 24-year-old Portugese player has agreed a deal to end his contract early, with a year still to go, and leaves Easter Road with immediate effect.
Tavares joined the Hibees in the summer of 2022 from Benfica, for an undisclosed fee and a reported hefty wage.
However he never really nailed down a place in the first team, with his only decent run coming under former boss Nick Montgomery.
He spent last season on loan with Motherwell, but again struggled to get in the team, making only 12 appearances for the Fir Park side.
Tavares leaves Edinburgh having played 41 times and scoring 2 goals.
HIBERNIAN-MAD VIEW:
Hibs boss David Gray will be delighted to get a big earner off the wage bill, so he can keep re-building his squad for the new season.
It never really worked for Jair at Easter Road.
He struggled to adapt to the Scottish game and would fall out of games for large spells.
Nick Montgomery seemed to get the best out of him, after giving him a run in the side, but his form qucikly dipped again.
Good luck to Jair wherever he ends up.
