Wolves vs Southampton Preview: How to Watch on TV, Live Stream, Kick Off Time & Team News

With the international break over, Southampton will be keen to extend their good run of form as they travel to Molineux to take on Wolves.

Ralph Hasenhüttl's men ended last campaign brightly but nobody could have envisaged the Saints reaching the Premier League's summit, a feat they achieved a little over a year after they were humiliated 9-0 by Leicester at St Mary's.

Their opponents Wolves have had a bit of a mixed bag in terms of results this season, but there aren't many teams in the Premier League who haven't encountered similar ups and downs. They were 1-0 losers to Leicester in their final game before international break, but had previously been unbeaten in four after being mauled 4-0 by West Ham back in September.

Here's 90min's preview of the game.

Team News

Wolves hope to have Rayan Ait-Nouri fit and available after he pulled out of France's Under-21 squad as a precaution, while Adama Troare is pushing for a start after falling out of favour lately.

Nuno Espirito Santo is also sweating over the availability of Conor Coady, who has been self-isolating and training alone after coming into contact with somebody who had tested positive for COVID-19. If he gets the all clear, he'll make his 122nd consecutive league appearance.

Southampton expect to have Ryan Bertrand and James Ward-Prowse, who was ruled out of England duty with a hamstring injury, back, but they are still without prolific marksman Danny Ings.

Theo Walcott will continue to deputise up front in his absence, partnering up with Che Adams in a two-man attack.

Predicted Lineups

Wolves: Patricio; Boly, Coady, Kilman; Semedo, Dendoncker, Neves, Ait-Nouri; Neto, Podence; Jimenez

Southampton: McCarthy; Walker-Peters, Bednarek, Vestergaard, Bertrand; Armstrong, Romeu, Ward-Prowse, Djenepo; Walcott, Adams.

Recent Form

Wolves have dug deep to find the reliable performances we associate them with in recent games, despite not yet scoring more than two in a single game this season. Luckily, they're still keeping things tight at the back, shipping just nine goals all season.

In Daniel Podence and Pedro Neto, they have two gifted young wingers who complement the all-around game of Raul Jimenez nicely, though both would undoubtedly like to add more goals to their game.

Southampton go into the game in great form and are seeking a fourth consecutive Premier League win for the first time since May 2016.

Only Spurs boast a more impressive unbeaten run than Southampton do this season, which included a 5-2 thrashing of the Saints.

Here's how both sides have fared in their last five games in all competitions.

Wolves

Leicester 1-0 Wolves (08/11)
Wolves 2-0 Crystal Palace (30/10)
Wolves 1-1 Newcastle (25/10)
Leeds United 1-0 Wolves (19/10)
Wolves 1-0 Fulham (04/10)

Southampton

Southampton 2-0 Newcastle (06/11)
Aston Villa 3-4 Southampton (1/11)
Southampton 2-0 Everton (25/10)
Chelsea 3-3 Southampton (17/10)
Southampton 2-0 West Brom (04/10)

Prediction

Wolves have kept more clean sheets in 2020 (13) than any other side. That said, Coady's potential absence makes this a tough ask given Southampton's form. They'll also need Raul Jimenez to recapture the form we've seen from him in the past if they are to really ask questions of a strong Saints backline.

Southampton have coped well without Ings so far, but a tough fixture just after an international break could be the real acid test. Theo Walcott played well last time out as a makeshift striker, but it remains to be seen if he can recapture his consistent best.

Recent history suggests Wolves have the edge, and Ings' absence could prove decisive come full time.

Prediction: Wolves 1-0 Southampton
