Tottenham forward Son Heung-min has revealed that he's doing 'very, very well' after fracturing his arm in February - but he insisted that football is not important right now due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The 27-year-old has once again been a key player for Spurs this season, making 32 appearances in all competitions prior to getting injured. During this time, he found the net 16 times and provided a further nine assists.
However, he suffered a fractured arm during his side's dramatic win over Aston Villa in February. Son actually picked up the injury in the first minute of the game, but he stayed on and scored twice - including a 94th-minute winner.
Tottenham later confirmed that Son would be out for a 'number of weeks', while Mourinho himself claimed that he didn't expect the South Korea international to return before the end of the 2019/20 season.
Son has now provided a positive injury update, however, admitting that he's doing well now. He also added that he's working hard to return as quickly as possible and while he is missing playing football, he insisted that it is most definitely not the most important thing right now.
“I’m doing alright, doing what I can do, working hard, trying to be ready to come back as soon as I can,” Son told Tottenham's official website. “I miss the feeling of playing, of course, but at this moment, football is not important. Everyone’s health is most important, and we all need to stay safe."
Son went on to admit that while he did feel a pain early on in the game, he played on because the match was 'so important' to the team.
He continued:
“I wanted to play the in the Leipzig game [19 February], I wanted to play against Chelsea [22 February] as well, but I went to hospital, had an X-ray and couldn’t believe it when I saw the pictures. It was very sad news.
“Anyway, it’s already more than four weeks after surgery now and I’m doing very, very well and working hard to be ready to come back.”
