Thiago Almada Headlines Shortlist of Alternatives Should Man Utd Fail to Land Jadon Sancho

Manchester United are monitoring a 'raft' of potential transfer alternatives should the club fail to bring in top target Jadon Sancho to occupy the right wing position - with youngster Thiago Almada among those being considered.

A potential summer move for Sancho from Borussia Dortmund to Man Utd has already become a long-running transfer saga, despite the fact that the window hasn't even opened.

The Englishman's performances this season have understandably resulted in him attracting plenty of attention, most recently bagging a hat-trick to take his tally for 2019/20 to 20 goals - as well as contributing 20 assists in all competitions.

United have been at the head of the queue for Sancho's signature for some time, with a source confirming to 90min back in September of 2019 that the Red Devils are confident they can secure a deal for Sancho this year.

Most recently, 90min once again learned that United still remain confident they will sign Sancho before next season.

But due to the coronavirus pandemic, these are, of course, very uncertain times - especially financially for clubs. The Manchester Evening News now report that should United fail in their efforts to land Sancho this summer (or whenever the transfer window opens) for whatever reason, they will look elsewhere and have already drawn up a list of alternatives.

Velez Sarsfield's talented teenager Almada is one of the players being lined up, while Bournemouth's David Brooks and Schalke's Rabbi Matondo are also being considered. The club see the right-wing position as a key area that needs strengthening.

David Brooks

The Red Devils are admirers of Almada, who is regarded as one of the most exciting young talents around. The report further adds that United are considering 'several' other right-wingers from around Europe to fill the position.

As for Brooks, he has been sidelined with an ankle injury and, as a result, hasn't had much of a chance to showcase his talents recently. One thing we know from last season, though, is that the Welshman is able to operate in a number of different positions, similar to Almada. This is also the case with Matondo, who has featured all across the frontline this season for Schalke.
