The Chelsea lineup that should start against Everton

Chelsea saw off Liverpool last time out, but they'll face a Merseyside outfit who are actually in good form when Everton rock up to Stamford Bridge on Monday.

Thomas Tuchel's men have climbed their way back into the top four, but with Everton just one point behind, there is a whole lot riding on this match, and the boss will be determined to keep his unbeaten start to life at Chelsea intact.

Here's how Tuchel should set up for the game.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Edouard Mendy (GK) - Currently on a run of three straight clean sheets, Mendy will be desperate to make it four with a solid showing here.

Cesar Azpilicueta (CB) - Enjoying a new lease of life as a converted centre-back, Azpilicueta has led by example ever since Tuchel arrived.

Andreas Christensen (CB) - Thiago Silva may well be close to a return from a thigh injury, but Christensen has been sublime in his absence. He was Man of the Match against Liverpool and deserves to keep his spot.

Antonio Rudiger (CB) - Seeing Kurt Zouma frozen out isn't easy, but to Rudiger's credit, he deserves every minute he is getting these days. He has been excellent.

2. Midfielders

Reece James (RM) - James impressed against Everton and his defensive awareness should see him picked ahead of Callum Hudson-Odoi for the wing-back role.

N'Golo Kante (CM) - Kante has been outstanding in recent weeks, destroying in defence and holding his own going forward. He must be the first name on the team sheet.

Mateo Kovacic (CM) - Jorginho was excellent when called upon against Liverpool, but Tuchel is a huge fan of Kovacic and will likely bring him back into the starting lineup again.

Ben Chilwell (LM) - Like James, expect to see the defensively competent Chilwell selected ahead of Marcos Alonso for this one.

Mason Mount (AM) - Tuchel's love of Mount has seemingly infected the entire Chelsea fanbase, most of whom have now had their eyes opened to the midfielder's brilliance.

Timo Werner (AM) - Excellent in a more-advanced role against Leipzig, Werner could drop back into the 'ten' slot for this one.

3. Forward

Olivier Giroud (ST) - Giroud missed out against Liverpool, with Tuchel keen to use Werner's pace instead, but expect the Frenchman to slot back into the team against Everton.
