Real Madrid Turn Down Chance to Sign Willian - Arsenal, Tottenham & PSG Remain Interested

Zinedine Zidane has reportedly turned his nose up at the prospect of signing out of contract Chelsea winger Willian this summer.

With the financial implications brought about by the coronavirus pandemic set to limit the spending power of Europe's elite, players of Willian's ilk - who can be drafted in on a free transfer at the end of the season - are set to be in high demand.

Willian and Chelsea have failed to reach an agreement over a new contract

Despite this, Spanish news outlet Ok Diario (via Le 10 Sport) claim Real Madrid have rejected the chance to sign the Brazilian at the end of the campaign. Zidane doesn't believe the Chelsea man suits Los Blancos' style his play, while there are also concerns about his age - Willian will likely be 32 by the time next season gets underway.

In addition, with Real boasting the likes of Eden Hazard, Vinicius Junior, Gareth Bale, Rodrygo and Marco Asensio in their squad, it's fair to say their priorities lie elsewhere.

Thus, Zidane remains determined to acquire a centre-back, central midfielder and striker ahead of the 2020/21 campaign as the Frenchman goes about returning Los Blancos to their imperious best.

Nevertheless, other clubs remain keen in securing Willian's services ahead of next season.

Arsenal and Tottenham have emerged as two possible destinations, as the north Londoners prepare to battle it out for the 31-year-old's signature this summer.

Willian thrived under the tutelage of current Spurs boss Jose Mourinho during the Portuguese's second managerial stint at Stamford Bridge

Both clubs are set for a period of minimal spending and have Willian high on their agenda.

PSG, meanwhile, have strong interest in the former Shakhtar Donetsk star, with sporting director Leonardo said to be a huge admirer of the Willian - the fact he can secure the Chelsea man on a free appeals to him even more.

Les Parisiens are set to see several attacking players depart at the end of the campaign - with Edinson Cavani, Julian Draxler and Eric Choupo-Moting all likely to leave - and the Ligue 1 giants view Willian as a player who could provide them with not only supreme technical qualities, but versatility and experience as well.
