Premier League Young Player of the Year Nominees Announced

The shortlist for Tag Heuer Premier League Young Player of the Year has been announced, with Manchester United boasting three of the eight nominees for the 2019/20 season.

A memorable Premier League campaign was finally concluded on 26 July, one that will go down in the history books for a multitude of reasons. Yet, amid an unprecedented halt and a new league champion, one of the main takeaways from the season was the outstanding performances from a host of young players.

Choosing eight was surely tough, but the nominees have been officially announced and voting can now take place.

Starting with United, the club secured a third place finish in the table, largely due to the performances of three of their young talents. Anthony Martial enjoyed his finest individual campaign to date, scoring 17 goals and setting up a further seven in the top flight. It's a similar story for Marcus Rashford, who too broke his own records by scoring 17 goals and registering eight assists.

Alongside the forward duo is 18-year-old Mason Greenwood, whose breakthrough season has taken everyone by surprise. His ten goals and one assist have featured some sumptuous efforts, with it fully expected to be the beginning of a superb career.

Over in Liverpool it's been a historic season for the club, who secured a maiden Premier League crown in record-breaking style. Speaking of records, Trent Alexander-Arnold racked up the most assists in Premier League history by a defender with 13 - a record he had set himself in the previous season. His four goals weren't bad either.

There is also Jack Grealish, who captained Aston Villa and was their talisman as they retained their Premier League status for another season on the final day of fixtures with a 1-1 draw against West Ham. His 14 goal contributions were integral to their success.

The only goalkeeper on the list, Dean Henderson, was in fabulous form for Sheffield United as they comfortably avoided relegation with a top half finish. His 13 clean sheets were bettered by only three other goalkeepers last term.

Chelsea boast the final two nominees, with attacking duo Christian Pulisic and Mason Mount playing key roles in Frank Lampard's side finishing in the top four.

In just 25 matches, Pulisic scored nine times and laid on another six goals for his teammates, while Mount - playing in a combination of attacking midfield and winger roles - featured in all but one of the Blues' league fixtures, notching 13 goal contributions during that time.
