Paul Pogba discusses playing alongside Cristiano Ronaldo at Man Utd

Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has stressed that he remains happy at Old Trafford, particularly now that he gets to play alongside Cristiano Ronaldo.

With his contract slowly ticking down, Pogba continues to be linked with a move away from United, and the team's sketchy performances and results this season haven't exactly helped that. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer's men are without a win in their past three Premier League games and have already been dumped out of the Carabao Cup.

His introduction off the bench helped United secure a 3-2 comeback victory over Atalanta on Wednesday, after which Pogba was spotted smiling and laughing with his team-mates.

“I am always smiling, as I enjoy playing here,” Pogba explained to Sky Sport Italia when asked about his reaction after the game. “But I am someone who often smiles, so that means I generally have fun.”

Pogba was then asked about playing alongside Ronaldo. The summer signing has attracted plenty of criticism for his passive style of play since returning to Old Trafford, but yet again, he popped up with the winning goal against Atalanta.

“Cristiano is Cristiano and he scored a Cristiano-style goal, so it felt a bit like deja-vu,” Pogba continued. "Everyone knows that we are talking about a world-class champion, one who has many Ballons d'Or and has been the best in the world for I don't know how many years.

"You just have to respect him and be happy that he is playing here."

Pogba's United contract is up in 2022 and he is keen to explore all of his options before committing to his next move, with renewing at United still very much an option.

The Frenchman is understood to have been impressed by United's summer recruitment, which he believes has set the team up for a genuine shot at silverware, but he would need to see that ambition maintained if he was to commit to an extension.

Real Madrid and Barcelona are both hopeful of luring Pogba to Spain, while long-term admirers Paris Saint-Germain are keeping a very close eye on the situation.
