Home tie against League One leaders

The draw for the first-round proper of the FA Cup took place on Sunday 17th October and Sheffield Wednesday have been handed a very tricky tie on entering the competition at this stage for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

With Premier League and EFL Championship teams not entering the competition until the 3rd round, the leaders of League One can technically be classed as the strongest team in the competition at the first round stage. Wednesday have been handed a tie against current League One pacesetters Plymouth Argyle.

The tie will take place on the weekend around Saturday 6th November at Hillsborough. Plymouth managed by former Owls striker Ryan Lowe, have already beaten the Owls convincingly in the league this season, winning 3-0 at Home Park in September.
