On This Day in Football History - March 27: Kane Scores on England Debut, Chelsea Hit 7 & More

It's 27 March and we're one day closer to having football back in our lives. We might still be 1,000 days away, but hey, at least it's getting closer.

All we have at the minute is memories of yesteryear, and there have been plenty of those. There have been a whole lot of goals, some stunning results and a record or two set along the way. How nice.

Here's a look at the best moments from 27 March in history.

1960 - AC Milan 5-3 Inter

1960 brought one of the most memorable Milan derbies from an AC Milan perspective as the Rossoneri stormed to an eventful 5-3 victory over rivals Inter.

Iconic forward José Altafini finished the game with four goals, in what was one of the finest performances in club history.

1994 - Aston Villa End Man Utd's Treble Hopes

Manchester United won both the Premier League and the FA Cup in the 1993/94 season, and they would have had a treble if it weren't for those meddling Aston Villa kids.

Dalian Atkinson and Dean Saunders both got themselves on the score sheet for the Villains, with Mark Hughes' consolation proving to be nothing more than that as Villa ran out 3-1 winners.

1999 - Paul Scholes Nets Only England Hat-Trick

Kevin Keegan took charge of his first England game in 1999, when he asked Paul Scholes to go out and 'drop hand grenades' against Poland.

The Englishman bagged three goals in a 3-1 win over Poland to score his only treble for England, including a header and a blatant handball. Eventful.

2002 - Pelé's 1970 Shirt Sets Auction Record

1970 Brazil were one of the greatest teams in history. Pelé led them to glory at the World Cup that year, before selling his shirt at auction in 2002.

It eventually went for £157,750, which was by far the biggest fee ever paid for a shirt - eclipsing the £91,750 paid for Geoff Hurst's shirt from 1966.

2004 - Chesterfield 4-4 Grimsby

It was 2004. Chesterfield and Grimsby played out an eventual 4-4 draw. The match was watched by 4,444 people. Look at all those fours.

Hopefully we see a repeat of that this year when two sides draw 20-20. You heard it here first.

2010 - Neil Lennon Manages First Game at Celtic Park

Neil Lennon has enjoyed plenty of outstanding moments as Celtic manager, and that all started on this day in 2010.

The Scot took charge at Celtic Park for the first time as he led Celtic to a 3-1 win over Kilmarnock thanks to goals from Scott Brown and a Robbie Keane double.

2010 - Chelsea 7-1 Aston Villa

Carlo Ancelotti's Chelsea were at their free-flowing best on this day in 2010 as they dismantled Aston Villa en route to a 7-1 victory.

Frank Lampard bagged four, Florent Malouda chimed in with two and Salomon Kalou popped up with the other, in what was a title-winning campaign for the Blues.

2010 - Ricardo Fuller Embarrasses West Ham

Chelsea's win might have been the best team performance that day, but Ricardo Fuller's stunner in Stoke City's 1-0 win over West Ham takes the award for best goal.

Fuller weaved his way through what felt like the entire population of London before firing home past Rob Green to create a moment of real magic.

2014 - Seydou Keita Scores La Liga's Fastest Goal

They say scoring goals is tough. Well, not for Seydou Keita, who needed just 7.6 seconds to score Valencia's first in a 2-2 draw with Almería.

A horrible back-pass gifted Keita with an easy finish, allowing him to break the record for the fastest goal in La Liga history.

2015 - Harry Kane Nets on England Debut

Harry Kane needed just 79 seconds and three touches to open his international account as he headed home in England's 4-0 victory over Lithuania in 2015.

The game also saw Raheem Sterling bag his first goal for the Three Lions, and there have been a whole lot more from the pair ever since.
