Mason Mount 'very excited' for new Chelsea era

Chelsea star Mason Mount has admitted he is looking forward to getting the Todd Boehly era at Stamford Bridge as soon as possible.

Roman Abramovich's 19-year ownership of the Blues came to an end this summer as he sold the club to a consortium fronted by Boehly, bringing an end to the most successful period in the history of Chelsea.

Boehly is keen to kick-start this new period with a bang, lining up numerous huge transfer targets such as Matthijs de Ligt, Raheem Sterling and Declan Rice, while reports elsewhere have linked Cristiano Ronaldo and Neymar with moves to Stamford Bridge.

Just how many of those signings come off remains to be seen, but whatever happens, Mount is looking forward to the future.

"It is a new era, so we all feel very excited and, whenever a new season comes around, you are excited about what’s possible,” he told the Evening Standard. “I can’t wait to see what happens.”

The Chelsea squad are slowly starting to return from their pre-season holidays. Mount was one of those granted an extended break after being involved with his international side this summer, allowing him to join up with Rice, Tammy Abraham, Trevoh Chalobah and Jadon Sancho in Los Angeles.

“We’ve had a break now but we’ll see and we hope it is going to be a good year,” Mount added. “I am feeling rested and ready to go.”
