Manchester United are thought to be considering selling goalkeeper David de Gea this summer in order to finance a spending spree.
Despite having already spent in excess of £150m on the likes of Harry Maguire, Bruno Fernandes and Aaron Wan-Bissaka, United are expected to spend heavily again this summer, but there are concerns over the size of their initial transfer budget.
United are hoping to raise funds, and Goal note that the idea of parting ways with De Gea has not been ruled out as they believe they could sell him for a huge fee.
With Dean Henderson proving himself out on loan with Sheffield United, the Red Devils are confident that they could survive without De Gea, although it is worth noting that they do actually want to keep the Spaniard.
His future could depend on that of midfielder Paul Pogba. The Frenchman has been heavily tipped to leave this summer in a deal worth over £100m, and if that does turn out to be the case, then United would have no need to sell De Gea.
However, United do not want to sell Pogba either, but it is thought that he is more likely to leave than the Spaniard.
De Gea, who is still said to have some concerns about staying at Old Trafford, would be open to a return to Spain, while Juventus and Paris Saint-Germain are both touted as potential destinations.
Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has pledged to continue the club's recruitment strategy this summer, with the likes of Jadon Sancho, Jack Grealish and James Maddison all thought to be in their sights, while a move for Gent forward Jonathan David could also be on the cards.
As it stands, United would not be able to afford to sign all those players. Their time away from the Champions League has taken a toll on their bank balance, and failure to qualify again this season would likely force United to sell some of their bigger names.
There are said to be 'few other options' than selling De Gea, which would certainly be an unpopular move among supporters, but there's no denying that it would raise a hefty sum of money.
