Leroy Sané Makes Long Awaited Return From Injury for Manchester City Under-23s

It may have been witnessed by less spectators than Dulwich Hamlet's game against Tonbridge Angels on Saturday afternoon, but Leroy Sané finally made his return from injury on Friday night.

The German took part in Manchester City Under-23s' comfortable 4-2 win over Arsenal Under-23 at an almost empty Emirates Stadium.

Sané has been out of action since suffering a bad knee injury just 10 minutes into his side's Community Shield clash against Liverpool, a week before the start of the Premier League season.

The forward made his return to on-pitch training last month but the Arsenal game represented his return to competitive action. City fell behind early on to a Folarin Balogun strike but hit back just after the half-hour mark through Adrian Bernabe.

The Gunners than poked their noses back in front before three goals in the last ten minutes - including one from centre-back Taylor Harwood-Bellis - secured the win for the visitors.

Sané lasted 57 minutes before being replaced by Liam Delap. We know what you're thinking...and yes, you're right. He is indeed Stoke City legend Rory Delap's son. Has anyone checked what his long throw-in is like?

Though Sané is once again fit for selection, his long term future at City remains in flux. Back in the summer, 90min reported that the 24-year-old was open to leaving to join Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich.

Sané was left frustrated by his lack of playing time during the 2018/2019 season and was tempted by the star status that would be afforded to him at the Allianz Arena. 90min have continued to provide updates on the story over the course of the season and Sané's remains keen on completing a deal as soon as possible.

Despite his contract being set to expire in 2021, City will demand a hefty fee for the forward's services, with a figure of £100m (€118m) being reported last month.
