Westcarr was with the Magpies when they won promotion as league champions in 2010. He scored 11 goals in 50 games, including a hat-trick against Hereford United in a 5–0 win at Meadow Lane.
The now 35 year-old has been described as ‘very special’, Newark said: “Craig’s wealth of experience within the professional game, and more recently with higher placed clubs in the FA’s National League system, makes him a fantastic signing for Newark Football Club.
“As a player who has played football with all five of our nearest professional clubs, Craig’s inclusion in the squad is something tantalising and really very special.
“It will be a real treat to welcome Craig more formally to the football club once training begins.”
