Fletcher on fire as Owls fly into top 6

2nd half show wins Wednesday 3 points
Sheffield Wednesday came from behind to beat Brentford at Hillsborough on Saturday and in doing so they moved into the top 6 in the Championship table.
Wednesday made one change from the side that won at Charlton the previous weekend with Jacob Murphy replacing the injured Fernando Forestieri. The Owls started well but failed to make a telling opportunity in the early exchanges and from around 10 minutes in they seemed to lose their way.
Brentford looked nothing like a side that has smashed in 7 goals in their last Championship game but they did look more composed as the half wore on. The visitors took the lead when they were awarded a contentious corner and Mbeumo headed in from close range. It was a disappointing goal for the Owls to concede and they needed a change of approach in the 2nd half.
Garry Monk replaced Nuhiu with Rhodes at the break and Wednesday were a different proposition in the 2nd half. Fletcher saw a good strike go just wide and Murphy took too long to shoot having been picked out by Harris.
Reach replaced Murphy just after the hour and within 5 minutes the hosts made it 1-1. Harris out a cross into towards Rhodes and Henry cut it out with his hands, the referee pointing straight to the spot. Fletcher was calm in allowing keeper Reya Martin to make his move first before slotting the ball into the net.
Five minutes later the Owls were 2-1 up. Harris attacked the Bees defence and his low cross was turned home by Fletcher for his second brace in successive games.  Brentford tried to respond but failed to overly exert Dawson in the home goal.
The Owls face a tough task to consolidate their top 6 spot, with trips to Derby County and Nottingham Forest coming up in the next 7 days.
