Fire alarm sounds all night at Atalanta's hotel ahead of Man Utd clash

The fire alarm was sounding all night long at Atalanta's hotel as they prepared for their Champions League meeting with Manchester United on Wednesday.

The Serie A side travelled to England on Tuesday and stayed overnight in the city ahead of the game.

However, their preparations were hampered when the fire alarms in their hotel sounded multiple times during the night, likely depriving the squad of sleep.

The wife of midfielder Ruslan Malinovsky took to Instagram to complain about the noise, also hinting that Atalanta fans might treat United to a similar ordeal when they travel to Bergamo on Tuesday 2 November.

"I don’t think it was an accident," Roksana Malinovska wrote on her Instagram story.

"Throughout the night in the hotel the siren was turned on at full power five times. It happened just when the team arrived, and only at night!

"Do you think this is an accident? Er, no. Such a ‘warm’ welcome from the local population feels terrible in the heart. I hope that our fans will support the team in the home game, and maybe the same thing will happen suddenly in an Italian hotel."

Both teams will be desperate to get a result with Group F finely poised after two games. United have made a less than convincing start to their Champions League campaign this season.

After falling to a shock opening day defeat to Young Boys, they required a last-minute Cristiano Ronaldo winner to secure three points against Villarreal. The pressure is ramping up on Ole Gunnar Solskjaer too, following his side's 4-2 defeat to Leicester on Saturday.

Meanwhile, Atalanta top the group with four points having edged to victory over Young Boys on matchday two prior to a dramatic 2-2 draw with the Yellow Submarine.
