Euro Countdown: How England's Opponents Are Warming Up

Last updated : 11 May 2021 By Three Lions

The delayed Euro 2020 tournament begins one month today with Turkey taking on Italy, two days before England's campaign begins with a Wembley clash against Croatia, Austria and Romania providing the warm-ups for Gareth Southgate's side.

Familiar foes for the Three Lions in recent years, Croatia are set to finalise preparations with a home friendly against Armenia and then a Brussels test away to tournament favourites Belgium before basing themselves in St. Andrews for the initial stage of the Euros.

Following the Croatia game all eyes will be on an Auld Enemy battle at Wembley with Scotland finally back on the big competition stage.

Steve Clarke will hone his troops in pre-tournament matches against the Netherlands (on neutral soil in Portugal) and then Luxembourg.

England versus Czech Republic ends the group stage for Southgate's men and the Czechs have chosen an away clash with Italy and a home friendly against Albania to fine-tune their tactics and personnel.
