England v Scotland: Key Defenders Set To Feature

Both England and Scotland have had positive injury news over key defensive figures ahead of Friday's Auld Enemy clash at Wembley.

Harry Maguire's recovery from an ankle injury means he will be among the 23 players named by Gareth Southgate for the game.

"The decision we have got to make is whether he is ready to start," said Southgate, the urgency of his decision lessened by Tyrone Mings' display in the opening Euro 2020 match against Croatia.

All of the manager's major selection decisions were vindicated on Sunday but it remains to be seen whether he feels the Scots provide a different threat that requires a different XI.

For Scotland, key man Kieran Tierney is 'fit and available' after a calf injury kept him out of the 2-0 defeat at the hands of the Czech Republic.

The Arsenal man's absence, and his ability to combine on the left with skipper Andy Robertson, was keenly felt at Hampden Park but he is set to return and could be joined as a starter by striker Che Adams with Lyndon Dykes having struggled to make an impact on the Czech defence.
