DFCSS/Dee4Life Membership Consultation Report @ 28/07/20
Introduction:
The consultation was carried out between 18 July and 21 July 2020.
The purpose of the consultation is to inform the Society directors’ decision making on the use of the organisation’s financial reserves following a request from the Club for a “significant amount of money currently in the Society reserves”.
The current circumstances are that the reserves are classed as “unrestricted” and as a consequence there’s a wide range of possible uses to which they can be put within the scope of ‘Objects’ and ‘Powers’ in the Society Rules. In addition, the Society rules don’t encourage a ‘no strings attached’ donation as requested by the Club.
The directors consequently agreed that the proper thing to do would be to consult with the Members on their preferred uses of the reserves before taking a potentially major decision.
Methodology:
An email was sent to all Society Members on the 18 July 2020 (Appendix 1). The email explained the background to the consultation, the level of the unrestricted reserves, suggested a range of appropriate uses for the reserves and asked Members for their responses to four questions A to D:
The results of the consultation were as follows:
97 responses were received by the deadline representing a 50% response rate which is high for this form of consultation.
3 responses were received after the deadline.
NB: The late responses have not been included in the final analysis and would not have changed any aspect of the outcome.

The average percentage - 50%
NB: The average percentage is based on all 97 responses. For Members responding ‘No’ zero percent was used in the calculation.
