Crystal Palace 1-1 Brighton: Player Ratings as Seagulls Strike Late to Earn Share of the Spoils

Wilfried Zaha's first half penalty was cancelled out by Alexis Mac Allister's late deflected strike to earn Brighton a deserved 1-1 draw on Sunday's Premier League clash at Selhurst Park.

The Eagles had one shot all match. A solitary point was the absolute least that the visitors deserved, although they made it hard for themselves with Lewis Dunk's added time red card.

1. Goalkeeper & Defenders

Vicente Guaita (GK) - 7/10 - Very comfortable dealing with crosses into the box and made some smart stops to deny Brighton. His handling was spot on at Selhurst Park. Could do nothing about the equaliser.

Joel Ward (RB) - 6/10 - Covered his central defenders well for crosses and took good care of March.

Gary Cahill (CB) - 6/10 - Another solid display from Cahill who continues to justify Palace's decision to bring him in on a free deal.

Cheikhou Kouyaté (CB) - 7/10 - The central defender doubled up well with his full-backs to cover wide areas, and bossed the aerial battles throughout.

Tyrick Mitchell (LB) - 6/10 - Is making a name for himself as a left-back version of Aaron Wan-Bissaka, with competent defensive ability but lacking in forward departments.

2. Midfielders

Andros Townsend (RM) - 6/10 - Great delivery that forced the first half penalty, although most of his time was spent covering Ward down the right.

James McArthur (CM) - 6/10 - McArthur and 6/10 performances go together like fine wine and cheese.

Jaïro Riedewald (CM) - 7/10 - It's a big call from Roy Hodgson to keep Luka Milivojevic out of the starting lineup, but Riedewald is totally justifying it. Most of his work is off the ball, but it's effective.

Jeffrey Schlupp (LM) - 7/10 - The Ghanaian was industrious down the left flank, making the overlaps to make space for Zaha and covering Mitchell well in equal measures.

3. Forwards

Michy Batshuayi (ST) - 5/10 - Pretty ineffective but did win the penalty. Had an excellent goal correctly ruled out for offside.

Wilfried Zaha (ST) - 6/10 - Scored the penalty and make runs infield to create space for his teammates, but Palace rarely had the ball thus neither did Zaha.

Mat Ryan (GK) - 6/10 - Had next to nothing to bar picking the ball out of the net for the penalty.

Ben White (CB) - 7/10 - Moved into a defensive midfield slot when Brighton were in possession, an area where his fine distribution could be best utlised.

Lewis Dunk (CB) - 5/10 - Kept Batshuayi at bay, although there wasn't much to keep at bay since Palace never threatened. His late sending off was a rather stupid tackle. Hideous.

Adam Webster (CB) - 6/10 - Had so little to do for the above reasons, but that he did do was done effectively. Y'know, winning a header every 20 minutes.

6. Wing-Backs & Midfielders

Tariq Lamptey (RWB) - 7/10 - Full of life, running and endeavour, the only downside on Lamptey's performance was the penalty he conceded for the goal.

Yves Bissouma (CM) - 6/10 - Has an excellent range of pass that couldn't be used to its fullest due to Palace's low block, but nevertheless spread play out well and made smart runs into the box.

Adam Lallana (CM) - 6/10 - Was positive in possession, but had more impact on the game in the first half than he did in the second as Brighton opted to use width more.

Dan Burn (LWB) - 6/10 - Was put in as a left wing-back but mostly operated in central defence where, guess what, he had precious little to do.

7. Forwards

Leandro Trossard (LF) - 5/10 - Lively, sure, but couldn't impose himself on the game as he would have liked.

Neal Maupay (ST) - 5/10 - Had chances, well, half chances, but couldn't take any of them. Got into the right areas, however.

Solly March (RF) - 6/10 - Struggled to find a way past Ward in the second half but had some joy in the opening 45. Tried to win a penalty with the soppiest of dives. Not good.
