Chelsea Striker Tammy Abraham Dealt Fresh Injury Blow

Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham is set for another stint on the sidelines after suffering an injury in the warm-down following the Blues' Champions League defeat to Bayern Munich.

Abraham only recently returned from injury after sustaining an ankle injury against Arsenal in January.

The Chelsea striker has featured sporadically since, missing Chelsea's FA Cup victory over Hull City and Premier League defeat to Manchester United.

Abraham returned off the bench in Chelsea's most recent outings against Tottenham and Bayern Munich, but has now been dealt a further injury set back.

According to the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old pulled up in the warm-down after Chelsea's Champions League defeat and has aggravated the original ankle injury that had limited his playing time over the last month.

Abraham underwent tests on Wednesday to assess the seriousness of the injury, and the early signs suggest he is set to miss a selection of crucial fixtures, including Chelsea's FA Cup fifth round tie with Liverpool on Tuesday.

Abraham entered the fray with half an hour remaining on Tuesday evening, as Chelsea suffered a 3-0 humbling at the hands of Bayern Munich in the first leg of their Champions League tie.

The England international had looked to have picked up an injury during the game after he was on the receiving end of a strong tackle from Jerome Boateng, with both players staying down afterwards. However, Abraham appeared to shake off the knock.

Abraham is the Blues' top scorer this season with 13 Premier League goals in 25 appearances.

Michy Batshuayi had originally deputised for Abraham in his absence, and although the Belgian was on the scoresheet for Chelsea's FA Cup win against Hull, he failed to impress during the defeat to Manchester United as the Blues mustered just one shot on target.

Olivier Giroud came in for Batshuayi for the win over Tottenham, despite the French international barely featuring all season and looking set to leave the club in January,

Giroud found the net within 15 minutes for his first Premier League goal of the season, and was rewarded with another start against Bayern Munich.
