Building From The Back

In January Preston lost several key players particularly defensively. Loan moves were hastily arranged but this simply fudged the situation until a rebuild was anticipated in the summer.

Now the season has ended Preston are starting to put their pieces in place for the new season. There are unlikely to be any surprises with a number of the loan players from the second half of last season linked with rejoining the club.

It was vital that a permanent signing was made at centre back after the departure of Ben Davies in January. Liam Lindsay came in on loan from Stoke after he found life difficult in the Potteries.

Lindsay did a steady job and it seemed a sensible option to move quickly to secure his services for two years whilst Preston try to rebuild over the next couple of months.

Van den Berg and Iversen have also been linked with returns to the club although nothing has been agreed formally at this stage. Iversen will be vitally important if Preston want to avoid any kind of flirtation with the bottom end of the table again.
